Amazon's latest bid for Kindle content is a move the shuts book publishers out of the game -- at least for a handful of titles. It's clinched a deal with Wylie Agency to offer 20 well-known books from A-list writers like Norman Mailer and John Updike. Selling books directly through retailers without involving publishers could spell additional profits for some, but it could also lead to a fragmented marketplace.
